A successful end of the festival tanz nrw 17

After more than 50 events in eight cities over a span of twelve days, the sixth edition of tanz nrw has drawn to a close. The joint presenters from a variety of dance centres and cultural agencies are extremely pleased with the results of the festival, which once again demonstrated how many people are interested in Dance Land NRW.

The biennial festival offering a multitude of performances, workshops, parties, lecture series, films and video installations came to an end on 14 May 2017 with productions in Münster and Bonn as well as an exhibition in Viersen. For twelve days, choreographers and companies based in North Rhine-Westphalia toured the eight festival cities of Bonn, Essen, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Krefeld, Münster, Viersen and Wuppertal. In this way, Dance Land NRW was once again able to show just how multifaceted contemporary dance can be at a total of 16 different performance venues. Audiences responded to the diverse formats with great interest and curiosity. And much attention was drawn by this year’s cooperation between the dance ensembles and the region’s municipal theatres, which took place for the first time and primarily featured public rehearsals, audience discussions and theatre tours. In addition, the emerging artists format Sprungbrett < > TANZRECHERCHE NRW, which supported the performers Veronika Heisig and Wilhelmina Stark in their research efforts in cooperation with NRW KULTURsekretariat, proved to be a successful event series. After a short break and the resumption of regular season programming, the group of presenters will reconvene to plan the next edition of the biennial festival, which will take place in May 2019.
